Easter Sunday is a time to gather with friends, family and their faith communities to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ for Liverpool's Christian community. I was fortunate to share my Easter Sunday with the wonderful Parish community at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bonnyrigg Heights. It was fantastic to see so many local families come out to St John the Baptist after 40 days of Lent. St John the Baptist is led by the steady hand of Father Dominic Dinh, who was born in Vietnam and came to Australia as a refugee in 1980, one of the many great Australians of refugee background. Father Dominic's sermon was reminder to us all to keep love at the centre of everything we do – which is important and timely regardless of circumstances. As one of the most diverse regions of our country, it is also a lesson we see in practice every day within our community. I wish to thank the Parish community at St John the Baptist for being so welcoming, and sharing their joy with me on this blessed day.
