It truly is the end of an era for ABC Radio Sydney as Richard Glover completes a long and storied career in broadcasting. After 26 years steering listeners across Sydney home with the Drive program, Richard recently announced that he would be hanging up his headphones for good. Richard joined ABC Radio Sydney in 1996, before taking the reins of the daily Drive program in 1998. Drive has grown to be an eclectic mix of humour, news, pop culture, politics, and anything else Richard dreams up. On the handful of occasions that I have joined him for the Monday Political Briefing, discussions have spanned from thoughtful and poignant to hilarious – all in under half an hour! Richard's legacy also includes his popular Thank God It's Friday! round up of the work week (which once travelled to Liverpool!) and his weekly humorous in the Sydney Morning Herald for three decades. Richard's work has netted him 3 Walkley nominations. I know that his highly engaging yarns will be deeply missed by listeners and the community alike, and I wish Richard all the best as he enters a new, equally fulfilling chapter.
