Pink Sari Incorporated

03 August 2023

I acknowledge the seventh anniversary of Pink Sari Incorporated [PSI], an organisation that I have proudly supported since its inception in 2016. Pink Sari is a not‑for‑profit organisation that aims to lessen the impact of cancer in South Asian communities through the promotion of early detection initiatives and information campaigns. Previously, in its capacity as the Pink Sari Project in 2014, PSI helped to increase screening rates in South Asian communities by over 17 per cent. Over the past seven years, PSI has successfully delivered a variety of culturally responsive and innovative initiatives, includingPortraits in Pink, a photo essay of breast cancer survivors, and Melodies, a nationwide songwriting contest urging women to self-check regularly. Along with many other "Pinkaholics", I was pleased to attend the seventh anniversary lunch on 16 July. I acknowledge the efforts of the core committee, including President Shantha Viswanathan, Anoop Johan, Dr Rugmini Venkatraman, Aparna Tijoriwala, Rupa Parthasarathy and Viji Dhayanathan, as well as the many volunteers and supporters.
