It is my great pleasure to acknowledge the Philippine Australian Global Alliance for Service and Advocacy [PAGASA], an invaluable community organisation that brings together Philippine community organisations and individuals across New South Wales. PAGASA, founded in 2023, seeks to promote Filipino culture and advocate for the collective needs of the Australian‑Filipino community in New South Wales. The organisation also aims to address issues affecting the Philippines through natural disaster relief and educational assistance for students in the Philippines. It follows the establishment of the Alliance of Philippine Community Organisations, which has facilitated valuable social, religious and cultural platforms for the Filipino community in New South Wales. I had the privilege of hosting members of PAGASA at my office last year. My staff and I were treated to Christmas carols such as Silent Night and Feliz Navidad as part of their fundraising for local and overseas projects in support of children in need. I commend founders Jhun Salazar, Larry Perez and Fe Hayward for their work in bringing the community together. I look forward to seeing PAGASA achieve great things in 2024.
