Orthodox Easter is a special time for the many Liverpool residents of the Orthodox faith. It is the most significant event in the Orthodox Christian liturgical calendar, known as the 'Feast of Feasts', and is celebrated by several cultural groups in the Liverpool electorate. I was honoured to join the congregation at St George & Prince Theodore Coptic Orthodox Church for their Holy Saturday liturgy. I saw the entire community come together to share in the special significance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the meaning of that sacrifice for all people. I was particularly moved when the cries of 'Christos Anesti' rang out across the church. I thank Father Anthony Morgan his warm hospitality in ensuring that I understood the proceedings, and congratulate him on his continuing leadership of an active and vibrant church community. Additionally, I want to wish all those celebrating in the Liverpool electorate a Blessed Easter, including the congregations of Serbian Orthodox Church of the Apostle Luke, Sts Raphael, Nicholas and Irene Greek Orthodox Church. I hope it is filled with joy and spent with loved ones.
