Speaker, the first day of school is an exciting day for any new student. None moreso than the students walking through the gates of Gulyangarri Public School for the first time ever last week. After farewelling their families, these new students walked through the gates as the inaugural student body at this new school for the Liverpool CBD.I had the pleasure of joining Gulyngarri's brand new students with Deputy Premier and Minister for Education Prue Car and Murat Dizdar, the Secretary of the Department of Education, last week. Gulyangarri's motto is "opening the door to possibility", and with innovative new facilities, special education classrooms, and an on-site pre school to open later this year, Gulyangarri is a school overflowing with possibility. Gulyangarri is the Darug word for children, fitting for a place with children at the heart of everything it does. It is not easy to work towards the opening of a new school, and I want to especially acknowledge the foundation school principal Ian Tapuska, foundation deputy principal, Jodie Field, and all the staff for their hard work. I look forward to getting to know the teachers, students, and parents at Gulyangarri.
