I rise to acknowledge the recent Annual Gala Dinner for the NSW Federation of Community Language Schools, held at Bankstown Sports Club. The NSW Federation of Community Language Schools is the peak body for the after-hours community languages schools' sector of NSW, teaching 72 languages and servicing over 220 member schools representing 26000 students and 2500 teachers. Celebrating its 45th year, the federation celebrated the achievements of students and the contributions of teachers and principals to language education in NSW. The event also highlighted the importance of language education in sustaining our vibrant multicultural communities. Along with other guests, the event was attended by the Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Prue Car, who I thank for using the event as an opportunity to announce that governments commitment to increased funding for languages. I congratulate all the award recipients at Saturday's Gala on their achievements and contributions, and I look forward to supporting and celebrating community language schools in the future.
