Earlier this month I joined the official launch of the North West Cameroon Cultural and Development Association Australia, known as NoWeCuDAA. The milestone marks the formal introduction of NoWeCuDAA to the wider Australian community and the beginning of a new chapter of connection, cultural celebration and community-led development. NoWeCuDAA has been established with a clear and meaningful purpose: to promote culture, strengthen unity, foster development and create opportunities for people of north-west Cameroonian heritage and their friends to come together in support of a shared future. Organisations like NoWeCuDAA play an important role in ensuring that traditions, stories and values are carried forward across generations, while creating spaces for belonging and participation. I was particularly taken aback by the warmth with which I was received, the presentation of a traditional handwoven bag and the understanding I was given of the word "chinda". I congratulate the organisation's volunteers and members. I wish them all the success in the future on their shared journey of culture and growth.
