I acknowledge the NAIDOC fun day I attended in Miller on 5 July. NAIDOC week invites us to celebrate and recognise the proud history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the oldest continuing cultures on earth. This year's theme was "For our Elders". The fun consisted of garden games, food, live music, and an awards ceremony. I acknowledge Auntie Lexi, who was named Liverpool's elder of the year, for her immeasurable contribution to our community. I also acknowledge the Young Person of the year, 17-year-old Tiarna-Lee Thorne, as well as the Elders Coffee Club on winning the Community Group award. The Community Member award was presented to Emma Eldridge for her contribution to cultural and historical heritage. I'd like to thank Liverpool City Council and Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council for organising the event. I hope to continue celebrating our first nations people going forward.
