They say it takes a village to raise a child, and this was apparent as I joined graduation celebrations for the year 12 cohort at Minarah College. Formerly Green Valley Islamic College, Minarah College has served my community for over 20 years and strives to provide a holistic education through the principles of Islam. The college seeks to strengthen connections with faith, community and identity and empowers students to create a positive impact in their community. It was great to attend the graduation ceremony earlier this month in Riverwood, where students dressed up with their families and classmates to celebrate the end of 13 years of schooling. Students were presented with certificates and medals by staff and guests, who also spoke to the integrity, tenacity and camaraderie of the year 12 cohort. I note the hard work of year 12 head teacher Nischal Lata and Acting Principal Mrs Samina Ali. I extend my best wishes to this year's graduates as they embark on life's next steps.
