Last week I attended the Michael Wenden Leisure Centre open day in Miller. Michael Wenden Leisure Centre crucially provides affordable health, fitness and leisure opportunities for residents. The centre's staff also work hard to deliver a variety of programs and services. For this reason, it was nice to see the community come out to Michael Wenden for this year's open day. There were a variety of fun activities for residents to enjoy, including a petting zoo, group fitness, stadium games, a barbecue, face painting and fun giveaways. I also note the presence of many of our community groups, namely Western Sydney MRC, the Australian Relief Organisation and Rainbow Club. As we see the weather warm up, it was nice to see to covers come off the outdoor pool and the other water features become open for use. I extend my congratulations on a successful open day, and I hope to see Liverpool City Council further support to these crucial community amenities.
