A couple of weeks ago I visited Liverpool West Public School in my electorate with the Deputy Premier, and education Minister to view the progress of works at the school. The upgrade of Liverpool West is well underway and will deliver a further 28 teaching spaces, four new support rooms and a preschool. I thoroughly enjoyed touring the school with Liverpool West students, especially school captains Ryan and Aleksandra and the school ambassadors. They happily showed us their new facilities, including new classrooms, special program rooms, a new hall, a library and a covered outdoor learning area. It was great to see the enthusiasm shown by students for their school. I was thrilled to hear that some have been inspired to become teachers themselves. I thank principal Mrs Martin, deputy principals Ms Tina Iervasi and Ms Sotiropoulos and the Liverpool West school community. It is a testament to the Liverpool West school spirit that Ms Iervasi is a former student herself. I look forward to the opening of these much-needed school facilities.
