As we continue the important work of reconciliation, occasions like NAIDOC Week are an important opportunity to highlight the relationships that make our communities strong and resilient. This year the Liverpool Rangers Soccer Club collaborated with Gandangara Local Aboriginal Land Council to design a special jersey for the NAIDOC round. Designed by Gandangara members and proud Rangers parent Tanya Dennis-Ikhinmwin, the jersey tells the story of the club and the local area. I had the privilege of attending the smoking ceremony to kick off proceedings at Ireland Park. It was fantastic to see so many don the jersey and celebrate this year's NAIDOC theme, "Keep the fire burning". I congratulate club president Matt McMah and treasurer Adam Geary for their continuing commitment to making the Rangers a hub of equality and inclusivity in Liverpool. A special mention to Ruby Hughes for being one of the youngest and most enthusiastic participants. I look forward to seeing this brilliant initiative evolve in years to come.
