I acknowledge the newly established Liverpool Little India, a community network that connects South Asian clothing and accessory businesses in Liverpool. For over 30 years George Street in Liverpool has been known as a bustling hub for South Asian shopping stores, attracting shoppers from across Sydney and beyond looking to fulfill their fashion needs. With outfits, accessories and tailors all available on the same street, the emergence of George Street's Little India has turned shopping into a cultural experience. The presence of Indian restaurants and nearby stores has allowed for a one-stop cultural trip. For that reason, Liverpool Little India was formed to advocate collectively for the interests of George Street vendors and to provide reciprocal marketing and promotion with an aim to build George Street as a regional cultural destination. Bearing in mind south-west Sydney's growing South Asian population, I commend this fabulous initiative by small businesses in Liverpool and I eagerly anticipate the establishment of our local fashion industry.
