This year marks 70 years since Liverpool Girls High School opened its doors for the young people of Liverpool and I was delighted to help celebrate such a significant milestone. The birthday bash was a night of reunions and nostalgic displays that captured how the school has evolved over the decades. Liverpool Girls High School sits on the site of the previous Liverpool Home Science School, which operated from 1929 to 1953. In 1947, the foundation stone of Liverpool Girls was laid and the school started operating under its current name in 1954. Liverpool Girls has changed a lot in that time, but one constant is a dedication to high quality learning that empowers young women to thrive and succeed within an inclusive and supporting community. 70 years on, Liverpool Girls is poised to enter a new era, with the establishment of a new co-educational high school on the site for over 2000 students. I look forward to working with the school community as we navigate this exciting frontier. I congratulate and acknowledge Principal Kirstine Gonano and the entire staff team and student body, past and present, for their contributions to Liverpool Girls
