Last weekend many fire stations across NSW opened their doors to the public for the annual Fire & Rescue Open Day and members of this place had the opportunity to spend time with our local firefighters. I was fortunate enough to spend time with the hard working crew at Liverpool Fire Station in Moorebank. Liverpool Fire Station is currently also home to the fantastic team from Busby Fire Station, as they await the completion of their brand new facility later this year. The rain didn't stop the fun and excitement, as community members from across the area ventured down for a sausage sizzle and a chance to meet with and thank our local firies for all they do to keep us safe. For local children, it was a chance to meet their heroes – although many became very shy despite looking forward to the event all week! As we commend our firefighters for all their hard work, I want to take this opportunity to remind those across our communities to check their smoke alarms and take advantage of the free Safety Visit service provided by our local firies. It could well save a life.
