Last weekend I attended the Liverpool Young Champions Awards, an excellent initiative that recognises the achievements Liverpool residents aged 19 and under. The event platforms our standout young people in over 20 categories, including community service, the arts, sports, employment, and technology. Several areas also include categories for young people with special needs. The evening featured an array of exciting performances, and it was great to see Liverpool's emerging talents recognised. I note the achievements of our own Miller Technology High School and the wonderful Maryam Abdo who took out the Champion of Champions award. I also acknowledge the tremendous contribution of the event organisers, Rainbow Crossing, who for years have positively impacted the south-west Sydney area by means of various arts-based projects, including the local champions awards, the Good Morning Macarthur publication, and an array of small business networking events. I congratulate all the award winners, Rainbow Crossing and event sponsors on a successful evening.
