Recently, I was delighted to take part in the Hoxton Park Tigers End of Season Awards Night. Having only formed in 2018, the club has already grown to accommodate 15 junior teams after starting with two! In three seasons they have already claimed coveted premiership wins in the under 9's, 10's, 12's, 13's and 15's club competitions. The night featured a stellar cast of up-and-coming cricket stars, and it was great to acknowledge the record run-scoring and wicket-taking figures for this season, with junior players collectively scoring 8 centuries and 54 half centuries. I also met the incredibly impressive Trisha Shinde, who took this seasons only hattrick by clean bowling 3 consecutive wickets against Prestons Maroons. Cricket is a pillar of our nation's sporting tradition, I am excited by the uptake of the sport by our young people, and in particular young girls. I would like to thank President Peter Moore, Secretary Sharjeel Siddiqui and the entire Fairfield Liverpool Cricket Association for their fantastic work.
