Although this winter seems particularly chilly, it will not be long before summer rolls around in all its glory. Come December, our beaches will fill up with families once again, and our surf lifesavers will start their patrols. However, as much as we all look forward to those beautiful beach days over summer, we also know that they can be fraught with danger—especially for those in our community who have never learned how to swim. We are so lucky to have surf lifesavers who patrol our beaches to protect us. For those going to Coalcliff for their leisure, they may notice some new faces within the Coalcliff Surf Lifesaving Club squad this summer. The first squad of students from Ashcroft High School recently graduated and received their patrol uniforms. I congratulate Riley Cooley, Bella Reimann, Mohammed Skaf, Hayley Woolfe, Sienna Smith and Koby Baines on being the first graduating squad of surf lifesavers from Ashcroft High. On behalf of Liverpool, we are so proud of you.
